February 17, 2025The town of Pangani is imbued with both tangible and intangible heritage from various peoples and communities. This heritage is both touchable and intangible.

Since the 11th century, the town of Pangani has had relationships in various activities with different nations. For many centuries, Pangani has seen the interaction of various communities from different parts of the world, especially Asia and Europe. Communities from different regions within the borders of Tanzania have also had relationships.

Considering this rich heritage, the Lenga Mbali organization is committed to ensuring that community members, especially youth and children, understand the true meaning and benefits of heritage in sustainable community development.

So far, through the “Save and Create Your Future” project, the Lenga Mbali organization has enabled students of Funguni Primary School, Pangani Primary School, and Funguni Secondary School to engage in various matters concerning the heritage of Pangani town.

In conjunction with this, through the Pangani Shared Heritage Project, which included various expert groups from the University of Dar es Salaam, the German Institute of Archaeology, and the University of Cambridge, efforts have been made to empower various youth groups on heritage matters, especially the tangible ones and their importance in various social activities in Pangani District.

The Pangani Shared Heritage Project conducted various archaeological studies along with minor renovations of the historical Boma building to ensure its stability for various development activities within the building.

In this context, the Lenga Mbali organization has had a special program for primary and secondary school students to ensure that children have a sustainable understanding of the heritage and culture of Pangani, to collaboratively participate in preserving and safeguarding this heritage for the sustainable benefit of future generations. February 17, 2025The non-governmental organization Lenga Mbali, located in Pangani District, Tanga Region, has conducted training for students of Funguni Primary School and Pangani Primary School in the district through their “Save and Create Your Future” project. This project aims to help these students identify indicators of gender-based violence in their environments and avoid them to achieve their dreams.

Initially, during these training sessions, the students were able to identify sources of gender-based violence in their environments, such as attending video halls especially at night, receiving gifts from strangers, bad peer groups, and walking at night without close supervision from parents or guardians.

The facilitators from the Lenga Mbali organization advised the students to avoid joining bad peer groups, stop attending video halls, stay close to their parents for close supervision, and focus on their studies to achieve their dreams.

Additionally, during these training sessions, the students were able to clearly articulate their life dreams, which included becoming a police officer, soldier, teacher, lawyer, engineer, and many others.

February 17, 2025Lengambali organization has been implementing its Okoa na Tengeza Kesho project in the district of Pangani, where in 2023 it succeeds in meeting the women of Kimang’a ward, Madanga village who are involved in the activity of breaking pebbles in order to earn income to help families in various needs. In discussions with women, women identified the various challenges that face in their activities.

Furthermore Lenga mbali organization in collaboration with the community development office in Boza village and women who are involved in the activity of making pebbles, they decided together to form women’s groups to help and enable the women to get various opportunities including grants and better equipment in order to do it their activity to be sustainable and productive.
